What Is This?

A gentle, sensory‑friendly concert for autistic, neurodivergent, disabled, and sensory‑sensitive adults, children, their families, caregivers & support people.

  • Soft, steady lighting
No flashing, colour changes or strobe lights!

  • Lower sound levels
No sudden loud noises, and we will be encouraging ASL-Clapping AKA Jazz-hands rather than traditional applause. We understand some people may clap anyways - that’s okay too! Over-all this will still reduce the volume level.

  • Sensory coping equipment welcome and encouraged!
Every person is different - Please bring whatever you may need to cope, such as: sound-dampening headphones, sunglasses, weighted blanket or stuffy, a fidget, chewlery, etc.

  • Flexible seating
Chairs, wheelchair areas, sensory swings, soft seats, and floor mats.

  • Movement, stimming, vocalizing, and singing-along welcome!
There will be NO policing, “sshh-ing”, or expectations to be still or quiet.

  • Come and go anytime
Feeling over-stimulated? No problem! You are welcome to excuse yourself as needed.
Step outside or into the front entrance for a breather.

  • Clear signs, communication and a simple visual schedule
Some signs stating “Movement and Vocalizing Welcome!”, or we will let you know things like: “our next song includes snapping” so that there are no surprises!

What does this look like?

Why?

Many concerts expect people to sit still, stay quiet, and follow a set of social norms that can feel uncomfortable, exhausting, or impossible for some of us.

In a lot of traditional choral concerts, it may feel rude to:

-sing along

-move around

-pace or rock

-stim

-vocalize

-cover your ears

-leave and come back

But these are normal ways of being in the world. They’re not misbehaviour. They’re not disruptions. They’re human needs.

So instead of asking you to change or mask, we’re meeting you where you’re at. This concert is designed so you can enjoy music in the way your body and brain naturally work, without judgment, without pressure, and without worrying about “doing it wrong.”

Everyone deserves access to the arts. Everyone deserves comfort. Everyone deserves to belong.
